Three Real Essentials Our Children Need to Thrive in Life

Ad | When the autumn months come around, it’s time for the radiators to go on and for us to hunker down.

Our children start to get those autumn colds that seem to last for months on end, and it can make us question whether we’re giving our children everything that they need.

Sometimes, it serves as a nice reminder to ensure that we understand the essentials that we need to give our children to enable them to have the tools that they need to thrive and succeed in life.

Read on to discover three essentials that all children should have in their lives:

A Safe and Stable Home

It goes without saying that a roof over our heads is essential; but in the current climate where we are worrying about bills and the cost of living, it can be overwhelming to even think about putting the heating on some days.

Thinking about ways to create a nurturing and comforting environment in ways that we see fit doesn’t, and shouldn’t have to be difficult.

If our children are going to school feeling grotty and snotty, then let them come home to a nice warm bath and a comfortable, adequately heated room.

There are companies such as Radiator Village that can help you to find the right heating for your home with designs that look great too.

A safe and stable home is about that sense of comfort, and if our children don’t have that, we need to work on those physical components, but also think about the next step.

Love and Support

The toughest thing to come to terms with in this day and age when we’re trying to give our children what they need, is that we’re always fighting against time.

So many of us have to take our children to the breakfast club at school so that we can race off to our full time job. This then means that we don’t see them until just before their bedtime, and naturally leaves them feeling like we’re not there for them.

This can be an incredibly heartbreaking thing to feel for out little ones. We can obviously talk about the benefits of helping them to be self-sufficient and resilient, but we also need to prioritise quality time with our children.

No matter how little time it is, if we can show our children that we care and provide a safe space for them to express themselves, it will do wonders for their self esteem.

Being the Role Model

Setting an example to our children is something that we as parents think about on a daily basis.

Children learn by watching us. As they develop their psychological framework, which peaks around seven or eight years old, we need to remember that we are the ones that are giving them their understanding of themselves and of the world around them.

Of course, our children will also look to other people as role models. They will naturally look at the people that they have an emotional interest in, but they will also become inspired by other people in their lives, fictitious or real.

If we can remember that we are the example that they will follow up to their “tweenage” years, in life, in productivity, and in everything else, we can then let them find their own ways in the world, happy in the knowledge that we’ve taught them as best as we can.

It’s very difficult to think about how our children can fend for themselves, but this is why we need to remember that in order for them to thrive properly, sometimes going over the bare basics and reminding ourselves that these things are the most important, will help them flourish and give us peace of mind.
