A Little Secret and a New Venture – Mum Diaries #2

Hey lovelies, and welcome back to the Mum Diaries.

It’s been almost 2 months since I last posted here, but I’m back, and I have a little secret to share with you all.

I’ve missed blogging, but with how tired and sick I’ve been feeling, I just haven’t had the energy to even pick up the laptop.  The last couple of months have been rough, but they’ve definitely been worth it.

A little secret

Big announcement time – I’m pregnant!

We found out the good news just after my birthday in February, and we couldn’t be happier.  We’ve wanted a little brother or sister for Cupar for a long time, and now that I’m pregnant, I’m a little bit in shock that it’s actually happening.

Cupar of course is taking it all in his stride and waves hello to my tummy when I ask him where the baby is – it’s the cutest thing. He also keeps saying that he wants a little sister, so we’ll see if he’s right about that one!

As I’m now officially out of the first trimester, I’m finally starting to feel better.  Well, better than I was anyway.  My old symptoms have turned into new symptoms, and I now have a whole new set of issues to deal with.  But, we’ll get there.

I’m going to write a full post on what happens in the first trimester soon, but for now, I’ll give you a recap here. As it’s been so different to my first pregnancy, I thought it would be interesting to compare symptoms.

To be honest, I thought pregnancy would be easier the second time around, but oh how wrong I was.  So far, it’s actually been harder, and throughout it all I’ve felt like I’ve aged about 30 years!!

Here are some of the things I’ve experienced so far:

  • Morning sickness – which has actually been more like all day sickness
  • Dizziness/light headedness
  • Bloated – I feel like I’m about 9 months already
  • Hip/pelvic pain – Oh, I remember this well
  • Bleeding
  • Tiredness

Out of everything, I think the worst thing for me so far has been the tiredness.  Some mornings I’d get up, sit on the sofa and feel like I needed to go straight back to bed.  I was tired to the point where I felt exhausted and couldn’t even function.

Now I’m in the second trimester I do have a little bit more energy, but I’m still wiped out by the evening.  I definitely don’t have that elusive pregnancy glow, I can tell you!

I’m hoping that the second trimester gives me a bit of a break before the uncomfortable third trimester!

But, all moaning aside, I couldn’t be happier, and I’m counting down the days until bubba is here.

A new venture

As well as a new baby, I also have a new venture.  I’ve wanted to do something creative for a while (as if writing isn’t creative enough). With another maternity leave creeping up, and my thoughts turning to what I want to do afterwards, I decided that I needed ramp up my efforts to work for myself.

So I’m setting up a candle business, and I’m super excited about it.  I’ve made my first few candles, I’ve started designing the labels, and I’m working on the scents that I want to use.  I have so many ideas, and I can’t wait to start selling them.

The first two scents that I’m going to be offering are bubblegum and sherbet lemon.  The candles are all going to be sweet shop inspired. Think sweet scents and pretty pastel colours.

I’m hoping to set up a shop here on the blog so that I can offer them for sale, and I’ll be using them for giveaways and competitions too.

If you’re into candles, then keep your eyes peeled for them popping up here soon.

I feel so much better now that I’ve got my news out in the open.  If you’re a Mama to be, or know anyone that is, then check back soon for some pregnancy related content that will be focused on the first trimester.

What were your first trimester symptoms? Did you have anything weird and wonderful happen, or anything that surprised you?
