December Goals and Aspirations

Well, November just seemed to fly by didn’t it? I woke up this morning, December 1st, and came to the sudden realisation that it’s almost Christmas and I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping yet. There are only 24 days left, and I still have so much to do.

I always start to feel a little bit of panic creeping in as soon as December rolls around, as I think we all do, but I’m trying not to let it get to me too much just yet. If I still don’t have anything done by Christmas Eve, then I’ll panic!

So, for now, let’s all sit back, relax, and enjoy another mine pie or glass of mulled wine because, after all, December is all about indulgence.

Before we get to the fairy light twinkling, snow-dusted goals of December let’s first have a quick look back at November. I managed to achieve 3 out of my 6 goals for last month which isn’t too bad, and I achieved the most important ones, so I’m happy with that.

Health

  • Look after myself – Achieved
  • Start a winter skincare routine – I thought about this one, but I didn’t actually manage to do anything about it! I know it’s bad, but I just didn’t have the time or the motivation. This one will be readded to December’s goals.

Family

  • Get to a firework display – I didn’t achieve this one, and I’m so disappointed about it. I ended up with a bad headache on the night of the display, and I just couldn’t face going out. We did see some fireworks when the Christmas lights were switched on though, so at least Cupar didn’t totally miss out.
  • Go to some Christmas craft fairs/events – Achieved

Lifestyle

  • Don’t put too much pressure on myself – Achieved
  • Making plans – This one was kind of half and half. I made plans but I just didn’t put them into place, which is quite annoying. I now have the plans written down though, I can get them put into place for this month.

Now, it’s onto the month I’ve been waiting for – December.

Health

  • Eat more – I’m always so worried about making sure that Cupar eats enough at mealtimes, that I often forget about myself and end up rushing my meal or just not finishing it. This month I’m going to treat myself and enjoy lots of festive goodies!
  • Start a winter skincare routine – This one needs to be added on again because it’s so important. We’re now getting into the coldest months of the year, and I really need to start looking after my skin a bit more.

Family

  • Christmas film night – We’ve already started this one, and I’m planning on carrying on with it right up until the New Year. I’ve got a lot of Christmas DVDs I want to watch with Cupar, and there’s a lot on Netflix, so we should have enough to keep us going for December!
  • An evening drive to see the Christmas lights – I’ve never done this before, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. My Mum used to do it with her Mum when she was little, and we’ve decided to make it a new Christmas tradition for Cupar. There are always quite a few houses lit up where we live, so we’re going to have a drive around and try to find them all.

Lifestyle

  • Finish at least half of my ebook – This is a goal that I’m really excited about. I had the idea for this ebook way back in the summer, but I’ve only recently started getting it all written down. I’m on chapter 7 so far, so I’d like to aim to get another 7 chapters done by the end of the year.
  • Catch up with friends – I’ve had this goal on my list before, and its something that I really need to work on. I don’t see my friends nearly as much as I would like to because we all lead such busy lives. I was thinking that as it’s December I can plan some Christmas related things to do.

Christmas content

As a little side note, I thought I’d share some of my Christmas content plans that I’m working on. December is my absolute favourite month of the year, so I’m really looking forward to getting some festive themed writing done. Some of the things coming up are:

  • Christmas traditions you can start with your children
  • The mince pie taste test (This one will be fun)
  • The best mince pie recipe (If I do say so myself)
  • Stocking filler ideas for toddlers

Heres to a great month, and a great Christmas for everyone.
