November Goals and Aspirations

November is finally upon us, and that means that we’re almost ready to enter the Christmas season. As soon as the explosion of colours that accompanies the 5th November is over, I’m ready to get the tree up and start singing Christmas songs! My November goals are less autumn related, and more festive themed. It may still be a bit too early for some people, but I’m more than ready. I’m ready to dive into that box of tinsel with my Christmas jumper on and a mince pie in my hand while singing along to Jingle Bells.

But before we talk too much about November, let’s take a look back at October. October was a fun month for us, and it was one that seemed to amble along at more of a steady pace than the previous ones. Check out our October Loves post to see what we got up to.

Goals wise, the month started off really well. Blogtober was in full swing, autumn activities were keeping us busy and we even managed to get to a few baby groups which was lovely, but then I got ill and it threw everything off kilter a bit. I got a horrible stomach bug that knocked me for six, and I ended up having to take a few days off work. In the end, I managed to achieve 3 and a half out of my 6 goals for the month, but I’m happy with that, considering that I wasn’t feeling too good.

Here’s a recap of my goals for October:

Health

  • Stop having so many late nights – This one didn’t happen. The clocks going back has messed up Cupar’s sleep pattern a bit, so we’ve all been getting to bed quite late.
  • Drink more water – Achieved

Family

  • Autumn activities – Achieved
  • Toddler groups/classes – Achieved

Lifestyle

  • Blogtober – I’ve given myself a half for this one because I started it, but didn’t finish it. Scroll to the end of the post to read about my Blogtober experience.
  • Find a work/life balance – Nope, definitely not achieved.

3 and a half out of 6 isn’t too bad. I managed to achieve both the family goals which I’m happy about. I am disappointed that I didn’t manage to achieve the lifestyle goals, but it was partly due to illness, so there wasn’t a lot that I could do.

I’ve been feeling quite down this week, so my November goals are going to be centered around motivation and planning.

Health

  • Look after myself – I need to take my own advice and start doing some self care this month. I’ve been quite busy lately, which means I haven’t had a chance to get much time to myself. I’m going to try and dedicate a bit of time every day to doing something just for me.
  • Start a winter skincare routine – The only thing I hate about this time of year is that I suffer from dry skin. Constantly moving from central heating to cold air can really mess with the skin on your face and hands. This month I need to keep up with moisturising, especially on my face.

Family

  • Get to a firework display – I’m hoping to take Cupar to a fireworks display this year. We didn’t go last year because he was a little bit freaked out by all the noise, but I’m hoping he’ll enjoy it now that he’s a bit older.
  • Go to some Christmas craft fairs/events – The Christmas events have started and are already on the calendar in my house. Seeing the Christmas light switch on is the main thing I want to do with Cupar because I think he’ll really enjoy it.

Lifestyle

  • Don’t put too much pressure on myself – With motivation comes pressure. I took on too many projects in October and I ended up getting a bit burnt out. I have a lot of plans for my blog and writing, and I’ve realised I need to slow down a bit and concentrate on just one or two things at a time rather than trying to juggle everything at once.
  • Making plans – I’m going to create a blogging schedule so that I can have a bit of a plan to follow. I’ve found, especially lately that I just post ‘as and when’, and I want to try and be more consistent with it now.

Blogtober

I was all geared up for Blogtober at the end of last month, and while it started off well, it came to a sudden halt when I picked up a nasty stomach bug and had to miss a couple of days of writing. I could have carried on when I felt better, but I felt like I wouldn’t be doing the challenge properly if I did. I was disappointed, but it was just one of those things.

I did manage to write and post for the first 8 days of October, which I was really proud of. I usually tend to post once a week, and pushing myself to post every day has shown me that I can achieve results if I put my mind to it. I also got record page views for the month which was amazing. People actually read my blog, yay!!

While I’m not going to be posting every day in November, I am going to be setting up more of a plan for the blog. I love writing, and I have so many ideas going round in my head all the time that I want to get out there. I need a proper blogging schedule, rather than posting as and when. There were a lot of Halloween themed posts that I just didn’t get finished which was a shame.

So, let’s get some motivation going and smash our November goals together!

    My goal for this month is to stop hiding and be more visible (I’m a really big introvert, so this is a humongous challenge for me)

  3. I just want to get out of the house a little bit. Feel like I’ve been stuck at home forever. Not thinking much about the holidays as we don’t have much of a change of season here in Phoenix. At least the weather is getting into the 70s next week. Best of luck to us both taking care of ourselves. That seems to be the priority for me as well.

    1. My Dad’s friend has just moved from that area to the UK, and he’s missing the weather the most! It’s cold and rainy here at the moment which isn’t good when you’re used to hot weather.

      Good luck with the self care. We all need a little bit of time to look after ourselves every now and then.
