Life And Blog Update

It feels like such a long time ago that I last posted. It’s crazy to think that we bounced into March relatively normally, and now we’re all confined to our houses reading every book we own and watching the entirety of Netflix and Disney + on a daily basis.

With everything that has been going on (I’m not going to say the dreaded c-word), I’ve been pretty much glued to the news while at the same time trying to do anything that I can to take my mind off things.

I realise that reading the news isn’t the best way to take my mind off current events, but I’m strangely drawn to it like a moth to a flame, trying to decide which stories to believe and which I can take with a pinch of salt.

We’ve been trying to keep things as normal as we can over here for Cupar because, being only 2, he has no clue what’s going on and he doesn’t understand why we’ve stopped taking him to the park and to the library.

It’s been a weird month for all of us.

Here’s a little update on what we’ve been up to, and some plans for the blog in the next few weeks:

Life in general

We started March off with a lovely day out for Cupar’s birthday, and a family get together:

A family feeding the ducks
Grandparents and toddler
Mum and toddler

Obviously, this was all before the lockdown started.

Honestly, if I could go back and tell myself how things would be now, I wouldn’t have believed it.

But, we had a lovely time and at least we got to celebrate before things got crazy.

After that, we didn’t really get a chance to do much else apart from a couple of lunches out.

Now that we’re on lockdown our routine has pretty much stayed the same, except for the obvious thing of not being able to go out.

Luckily Cupar has a mountain of toys to play with, books to read and colouring books to colour in, so he doesn’t really have a chance to get bored.

As we’ve been inside a lot we’ve been taking the opportunity to sit down and do some learning. We’ve been learning the alphabet, the sounds of the letters and the sounds that animals make. Cupar seems to really enjoy it and he’s picking it up so quickly.

Aeron’s a real homebody and we’ve joked that he’s been self-isolating for years. He’s happiest at home playing his computer games, so it’s business as usual for him!

Cupar has been ok apart from when he craves his outside time in the middle of the day. We’ve been out in the garden, but as our garden is tiny, there’s only so much we can do out there.

I’ve mostly been ok except for some anxiety creeping up on me.

I have so much respect for anybody that suffers from anxiety in ‘normal’ life. I’ve never had it before, but I’ve definitely got it now, and it’s not nice at all.

Blog & Etsy

I’m sure I saw a bit of tumbleweed on my blog earlier, and it looks like there are cobwebs starting to appear in the corners…

I haven’t posted in nearly 2 weeks and I really miss it, but with everything that has been going on, I’ve lost my mojo a bit.

Anxiety took over and I couldn’t get the motivation to write. I tried, but I just wasn’t excited to be writing, and I really don’t want to put posts out that I’m not excited about.

I’ve got a few ideas that have been building up over the last week or so, so I’m going to try and get some fresh content out there again. I miss writing and I miss the interaction with the people that I usually chat to.

My Etsy shop has suffered a little bit as well. I had so many ideas for printables and things that I was going to create, but I’ve had to put them on hold for a little bit.

I have added a couple of things that might interest people though:

A new weekly planner – I know we don’t have too much to plan at the moment, but with us all being at home 24/7 it might help get our weeks organised!

Phone wallpapers – I made these when I was feeling a bit fed up because I wanted to lift my mood, and they’ve certainly done that! They’re bright, colourful and they even have some motivational quotes on them. They look best when they’re set as the lock screen I’ve found.

I’m working on some more bits at the moment including planners and bookmarks, so keep checking back.

I hope everyone is ok and coping well under the circumstances. Hang in there. We’re all in this together, and we will get through it.

  1. It is such a difficult time to adjust to. I do feel like I am getting there, but just when I think I am in control, things change again!

The Easter holidays have been lovely, although I was having to work from home still, it just felt calmer and less pressured. I already feel stressed at the thought of starting the home schooling again today!

    Keep safe

    1. My little boy is only 2, so we haven’t been doing any proper homeschooling, though I have taken the opportunity to do lots of inside activities like reading and writing practice as we’re stuck in the house!
