New Month, New Goals | January 2021

It’s the start of a new year, and the start of a new tier (I didn’t think I’d EVER be using that phrase, but what can you do?), and it’s time for some January goals for 2021. For a while there it seemed like we’d be stuck in 2020 forever, but now the new year is here. Read on for what I have planned.

I’m excited to set some goals this month. Nothing has really changed in terms of the whole pandemic situation, but I do feel like 2021 is a fresh start, and I’ve got a lot planned for the month, and for the year as a whole.

As we’ve been in tier 4 since Boxing Day, all of my goals are going to be centered around staying at home (as always). But it is January, so home is the best place to be in this cold weather!!

Before I share my January goals with you, let’s go all the way back to November and have a look at what I had planned for that month.

I didn’t manage to make any goals in December due to health issues and Christmas taking over, but at least it gave me a whole extra month to work on the previous goals I’d set!

November goals

  • Make a start on sorting out the spare room – Achieved. I made a start…
  • Vlog – No. As I said, I was a bit preoccupied in December, and vlogging was the last thing on my mind. But I still want to try it.
  • Make a dolls house – No. I’ve realised I don’t have the first idea about how to make a dolls house!! I had a go, but it didn’t really work.
  • Write, write, write – Achieved. And I started my new mini series The Mum Diaries which I’m super excited to share more of.
  • Get the laundry under control – Achieved. I had 11 days off over Christmas, and I finally managed to get the laundry sorted!

3 out of 5 isn’t too bad considering I had a rough month. I got the most important goals done, so I’m really happy with that.

January goals

For this month I’ve decided to split the goals into monthly, and yearly goals. It is a new year after all, so it’s only right that I get on and do some planning!

Lets start with my monthly goals for January:

  • Enjoy the little things – After the health scare last month, and also the absolutely awful year that we all had, it’s made me realise that I need to enjoy and appreciate the little things more. I made a happiness list last year, and I’m going to look at it regularly to remind myself what makes me happy.
  • Budget – I have a few credit card debts that I want to start getting sorted this year, and also some house essentials that I need to pick up (light shades, bathroom light switch etc), so I really need to set up a budget and make a money plan.
  • Read – I haven’t taken the time to sit down and read in forever. I miss it, and I really want to get back into it. I’m reading The Boy In Her Dreams by Laekan Zea Kemp at the moment, and I’m planning on finishing it in January. I’d love to read one book a month this year.
  • Learn some DIY – I’ve been watching a few DIY YouTubers lately, and they’ve really inspired me. I don’t know the first thing about DIY, but its something that I want to have a go at. The first project I’m thinking about doing is adding some shelves to the kitchen.

New year goals

  • Making and selling – I’d love to create something that I can sell this year. As well as bringing in some much needed extra money, it would also give me a little creative outlet and allow me to do something that I enjoy. I have a few ideas up my sleeve, so watch this space.
  • Start paying off debts – Following on from the budgeting goal above, I’d really like to start paying off some of the debts this year. I hate having debts, so I really need to work on how I can get it down.
  • Catch up with friends/reconnect – Due to everything that happened in 2020, my friendships took a little bit of a battering. With the frequent lockdowns, and worries about covid, it was so much harder to meet up with people for a coffee or a glass of wine.
  • Think about my career – It’s totally the wrong time to be looking for a job, and to be honest, I’m just glad I still have a job! But I’m going to seriously start thinking about what I want to be doing this year.

So there are my monthly and yearly goals. How exciting! I spent yesterday writing everything down in my planner that my Dad got me for Christmas, and I felt so motivated. I can’t wait to get stuck in!
